Changi Airport Terminal 4 : Chandelier Net Playground

Changi Airport Terminal 4, Singapore

Playpoint designs five-storey tall netted playground for Changi Airport Terminal 4.

Singapore – Changi Airport Terminal 4 in Singapore has a new attraction at its transit area and it’s a five-storey lowering net playground, called the Chandelier Net

Conceptualised as a Chandelier by Snohetta, it combines a sculpture and playground into one, making it as a functional art. Anchored to the ceiling and ground, it features sliding poles, double helix shaped climbing net weaved to the tapestry steel core with LED light ring at the top.

Playpoint in collaboration wit hKOMPAN design studio were able to bring the concept to reality. RSP architects, PI Architects and KOMPAN Corocord together with Playpoint worked tirelessly to fast track the project to meet the official opening of Terminal 4 in 3rd August 2018.

The Chandelier stands at 16.1 metres in height and uses 10 kilometres of rope and is supported by 15 tonnes of steel. It is designed for children between the age group of 6-12 years old. The structure can admit up to 50 children and adults in it.
