Roles and Responsibilities :

You will be accountable for procurement, control, quality and delivery of Design deliverables with the direct client relationship.

Client Management

  • Capture design deliverables as part of client contract requirements capture process
  • Manage request for information process to clarify design appointment requirements
  • Agree the level of design quality and standards that need to be achieved
  • Agree how the construction is being procured (and when contractors are being appointed), demonstrate the different types of information required for each, as this could create change

Commercial Management

  • Set out what we need the design supply chain to undertake – high level
  • Review design supply chain capabilities
  • Work independently to produce/ capture list of potential design supply chain members
  • Ensures main contract and sub contract designs coordinate fulfil design requirements
  • Coordinates with Contracts team for any formal and informal changes made by consultants
  • Coordinates with Contracts team for proper sequence of sub contract awards

Managing the Design

  • Act as the key client point of contact for Design
  • Produce the Design Management Plan(DMP), the DMP should include a Responsibilities matrix covering internal and external people
  • Manage the overall project design deliverables
  • Capture and agree design inputs required to start/complete work
  • Share what level of design quality and standards need to be achieved
  • Manage and map out how all of the project design deliverables are split by sub-consultant, and internal team – highlight any gaps
  • Seek agreement on the design schedule(s) – overall and for each design supply chain member
  • Create the design supply chain resource levels
  • Manage co-ordination between design packages and design supply chain members – BIM interfaces (and design interface)
  • Report on all aspects of Design to the client and seek client feedback with regards to Design

Managing the Design Supply Chain

  • Monitor design supply chain against their scope and schedule
  • Forecast and manage design supply chain costs and invoicing. This includes tracking and reporting EV on each appointment
  • Review and approve/reject the technical quality of design supply chain outputs
  • Chair Design team meetings, produce and share minute 


The individual should possess :

  • Minimum Degree in Architecture
  • Registerable with the Singapore Board of Architects
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in local projects, preferably to have been full time assigned on project, or has led a major aspect of the project.
  • Comfortable working within a fast-changing environment, ability to multi-task and cope with ambiguity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal ability, coupled with influencing skills
  • Independent and a self-starter, with strong personal drive to initiate and implement
  • Posses good leadership, meticulous and strong organizing abilities

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in the understanding of the requirements of relevant authorities (ie BCA, SCDF, LTA)
  • Proficient in the understanding of various Forms of Contracts (i.e. Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), Public Sector Standard Conditions of Contract (PSSCOC), Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (REDAS) etc)
  • Proficient in technical knowledge of construction and materials
